Although I am Japanese, I actually began studying the language in college. Now, with eight years of intensive language study under my belt, I know what it’s like trying to translate between my native English and my newly-acquired Japanese, and I know how to navigate differences between the two languages.
Since taking my first Japanese class in 2018, I’ve lived in Japan for two years, graduated from Stanford University’s Inter-University Center for Japanese Language Studies, passed the N1 level of the Japanese language proficiency test, and worked at a Japanese translation company. What helped me the most in attaining fluency was the guidance of great mentors and consistent conversation practice. I hope to help complete beginners to high-intermediate learners level up their Japanese and have fun while doing so!

Through casual conversation, we can work on improving your vocabulary and refining your grammar. I offer 30, 45, and 60-minute sessions. Depending on your preference, we can talk freely about topics of your choice, or I can prepare conversation topics as needed.
